The next time you stop at a light on US 19, take a moment to look left, look right and look behind you. Chances are that 1  of those 3 drivers is uninsured. It is likely that if one of those three drivers were to cause an accident, there would be no insurance to pay the victim -you – for medical bills, lost wages, injuries, disability or any of the other losses caused by their negligence. Your best protection against uninsured drivers is to purchase uninsured / under-insured motorist coverage known as UM.

Under Florida Law, you are absolutely entitled to purchase uninsured / under-insured motorist coverage in an amount equal to your bodily injury coverage. UM protects YOU for YOUR losses caused by the negligence of irresponsible, possibly unlicensed, drivers who so often cause wrecks. In almost all instances, UM is an affordable coverage in your policy that can provide great security.

If an agent claims they can save you a few dollars if you reject UM or select a lower amount of coverage, DO NOT FALL FOR IT. Tell the agent you want Uninsured / Under-Insured Motorist (UM) in the full amount available. Please don’t be that client we have to tell “we can’t help you, you did not buy UM.” Don’t wait, check your policy now, before you head back out on US 19.
